Hello there!
Mostly just a lot of grinding and various activities this week. Is it November already?
Tuesday: met a nice lady while housing who seemed to have a bit of interest. My companion taught her about the first vision and gave her a pamphlet. Also had sports night. Basically we go to a gym with the young men and play baskeball or badmitten. It's mostly so we have something extra to offer to nonmembers we meet or the young men can invite their own friends to. Pretty fun.
Wednesday: lots of grinding, little finding.
Thursday: holy cow, this day was busy, but certainly had the most miracles. Most of them were related to perfectly timed moments and so forth. We started out with planning out our packed schedule, then started out and found that Minegishi 長老's bike had a flat tire. We walked for our morning streeting and housing, then had comp study and lunch. Streeted on the way to the bus stop, where mere minutes after arriving, the bus picks us up. Met a nice lady at the stop who helped us know where we were getting off. Did a pmg (Preach My Gospel) lesson with a man in the ward who's currently in college. In Ebetsu, I got this cool little card I can put money on and use for buses and things but the Muroran buses don't take that, and I found out I only had enough cash on hand to get there. Thankfully, there was a 7-11 on the way from the bus stop to the college. 7-11 is the only atm that doesn't charge a fee for balance inquiries. Did that and found the msf* had come in a day or two early, so i withdrew about 10,000 yen while i was there. We got to the bus stop just in time for the bus to arrive.
*MSF- Mission Support Fund -- a debit/atm card that every missionary is issued and which holds the funds they are alloted each month for groceries, personal grooming items, laundry, cleaning supplies, haircuts, postage, and transportation.
Did weekly planning after that and language study and the Halloween party! It was pretty cool! Almost all the kids from eikaiwa came, so it was almost all nonmembers! The kids performed baby shark. Some members from the ward did air guitar presentations. One guy tried to mimic the "Johnny B. Good" dance from BTTF. Then, some members and a nonmember put together a live band. They played a couple classic rock songs like "smoke on water". Man, I wanted to grab that microphone! Anyhoo, good day.
Friday: learned how to fix a flat tire. When we finished and pumped it back up, we found there was still a nail in the tire cover. Thankfully, the patch protected the tire long enough for us to get the nail out. Almost a major fail, but everything worked out. Also, kids eikaiwa and toeic (the english conversation class). Both were pretty good. Kinda hard to talk to kids because neither of us know Japanese.
Saturday: more grinding. There's this man we found who could really use the gospel in his life, but he likes to talk a lot, so it's hard to get started. Also, I can't understand anything he says, so I can't even really start. We also had a lesson with another investigator this morning. Hope we can bring him to baptism. Started to get a little congested later in the day.
Sunday: didn't sleep at all the night before because of a fever. It's fine if I just wake up tired, but lying down for eight hours with nothing to do but wait for dawn just kills. Took some tylenol throughout the day, which helped a lot, and took some nyquil before bed. Stake conference was the major thing that happened, so we went with a nice family to that.
He told us that stake conference was 2 hours away
Monday: got a little more sleep the night before. Feeling overall pretty good, so not taking any tylenol and we'll see how I feel at the end of the day. Also, want to get a flu shot and a hair cut at some point today.
See you next week!
