Hello there!
Snow's almost here! I can feel it in my frozen hands after a bike ride. Almost time to break out the ski gloves!
Monday: After calling you, went and got a haircut and did some shopping (got a nice pack of little pizza toast things for cheap, so that was a winning strategy).
Tuesday: Had District Council Meeting. Did some more dendo. We tried a different approach while streeting where we used a board with the question "what makes you happy?" written on it. There were options people could put little stickers on, like money, food, family, sleep. Met a group of high schoolers that all put sleep.
Wednesday: started getting into somewhat of an exercise routine. Technically, it says in the white bible* we have to do 30 minutes. Anyhoo, we did more dendo. We've been streeting in the same place over and over, so we tried a different location. Pretty much nobody. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but we'll keep scouting for new areas. Later that day, we went housing. A guy recognized Minegishi 長老 from somewhere. I didn't understand too much of the conversation, but I think they figured out where. He let us in and we talked about the Restoration. We gave him a Book of Mormon. He said he'd read it. And, we got a return appointment!
*nickname for the missionary handbook/rules because it is a small white book
Thursday: Weekly planning, not much else that was noteworthy.
Friday: Started getting really cold, and I didn't want to fumble with ski gloves yet, so I got some touch screen cloth gloves for under eight bucks. Kids Eikaiwa was great. Next week, we're gonna learn an english Christmas song or two, so feel free to send suggestions if you have any.
Saturday: Did volunteer work at that one food serving place. Much more people there than last time, so great opportunity! Did regular finding efforts until our next meeting with the guy we met Wednesday, Sakamoto-san. He actually read a small part of the Book of Mormon! It's pretty hard in Japanese. We taught him about the plan of salvation and committed him to pray about what we've said. Man, it is so nice when you have somebody to teach who's interested.
Sunday: Good day at church. Fasted as thanks for Sakamoto-san. Also learned the hard way that it's time to put the thin socks away. Because of the frozen toes they gave me, those socks are going away until next summer.
3 Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human soul should perish; yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble.
Granted, we know that every soul will have the opportunity at some future time to accept the gospel and enjoy its blessings. Still, I would love to develop that desire and passion for missionary work and that love for all people.
