Yesterday was Payton's 4th birthday. Boy, he is getting so big. At one point Scott and I were watching him play and almost at the same time we said, "he looks so big today." He's in preschool, he's finally a sunbeam, and now he's 4 years old -- definitely growing up.
Around each of my kids' birthdays I try to get a few good pictures of them. Payton does not do so well being posed or told to "say cheese." So I knew I would just have to find a spot with good lighting (this time it was on my bed), let him play, and click away. I also made him a cute t-shirt (with iron-ons) that says "it's my birthday" with a big "4" in the middle. Initially he did not like the idea of wearing it, or showing it to anyone so he's wearing his jacket in a lot of the pictures -- trying to cover it up. As things went on he got more comfortable with it, took his jacket off, and at the end of the day he even wore the t-shirt to bed because he liked it so much.

I did a little q&a with Payton last night and here are some of his answers:
- fav color: grey -- although every single other time he's told me it is red & yellow
- fav shape: pentagon
- fav tv show: wow! wow! wubzy
- fav game: marble run (inside), baseball (outside)
- fav food: ice cream (only because he's eating it at the time of questioning)
- fav breakfast: cheerios
- fav ice cream: green - he says, "it tastes like strawberries"
- what he wants to be when he grows up: a Transformer (answer fed to him by his brother Conner)

Payton is a boy of few words -- when he is done having a conversation he let's you know. But on the other hand some of the funniest things we have ever heard have come out of his little mouth.
He loves his brother and sister and he loves having friends to play with.
He is a builder -- whether it be blocks or duplos or mr. potato head.
His favorite part about having hot chocolate is when I spray whipped cream on top and he gets to watch "the smoke".
He loves to watch the garbage truck, play in the backyard (even if it's by himself), ride his tricycle (terrorizing Conner on his bike by getting dangerously too close), and watch tv with his baby blanket (called "blankie" or "bungo").
He has a smile and laugh that instantly energizes the room.
Everyday he brings me his shoes, placed side by side, and asks me "is this the right way?" even though I think he already knows.
Everyday I get to hear him yell at the top of his lungs, "Mom! Can you please wipe my bum?"
He loves receiving attention (you can see it in his eyes and sheepish grin), but often tries to play it off and act cool.
He loves to play games, bath time, family home evening, and snack time.

Happy Birthday Payton, we love you!
