Oh, Halloween. It might as well have been Christmas. Last night after soccer practice Conner said, "one more hour until we go to bed and then it will be Halloween!"
I sent the kids off to school this morning with monster treats in hand for their teachers. Anna and I hunkered down on this very rainy morning and took care of laundry & checkbooks at home. Then after lunch, the party began.
Payton's kindergarten class had a party at the bowling alley after school. Everyone came in costume and it was definitely an exciting event. Just look at these faces:
Yes, Payton was Mike Wizowski for Halloween last year. I didn't think that this year's costume would be too bowling friendly so we pulled out good ol' Mike. And it was amazing to see how much he has grown in the past year -- the costume was a tight fit! Anna's Cinderella attire was also a last minute change, but she was not upset about that one at all.
After bowling . . . . to Papa Murphy's for pizza and free cookie dough!
Back home . . . just enough time for the kids to dig into their treat bags from the party and me to fold some clothes.
Then pick up Conner from school . . . . practice the piano, fix the falling spider webs on the front of the house, pick up clutter, rinse out some peed-in pants . . . .
Then it's time to get into costume! I now present the Brown family Halloween costume show of 2008.

So frightening that sometimes he scares himself!
Next, she's fluffy, soft, and can "bah, bah BAH!!!" like nobody's business . . .
Wouldn't you love to have a little chick like this of your very own? (note: does not produce eggs).
Finally, the one you've all been waiting for. He goes well with relish, ketchup, even macaroni and cheese. But all you really need to spice up this guy's look is mustard.

This evening we went to our ward's Trunk-or-Treat. Seemed like a lower attendance than usual - we were in and out in 30 minutes. Then off to trick-or-treating in the neighborhood - what the kids were REALLY excited about. I took the kids around while Scott handed out candy and set up the fog machine. We went through 2 very impressive haunted garages and the weather was great (dry and not even cold). A very pleasant Halloween evening, for sure. We were quite surprised by the lack of trick-or-treaters on our street. Not sure why. Let's just say I have a TON of candy leftover.
I also dressed up as Alice in Wonderland but neglected to get a picture. I may scrounge up one from Bunco (a few weeks ago) or borrow one from a friend's camera . . . . so, updates to come.

So I made my costume in 3 long evenings at the sewing machine. It wasn't exactly what I had pictured (a bit too puffy), but it did the job.
