It started during church today, made for a interesting/exciting/busy day in primary, but I just can't help being a wee bit thrilled by it all.
Now, I have to mention that we are not typically lawn ornament type of people, even for Christmas time. But there are 4-5 houses on our street that have gone all outwith the Christmas lights and smorgasbord of electronic reindeer with moving heads, candy canes, penguins, and spiral trees on their front lawns. Payton soooo wanted candy canes in our yard too. He asked about it for days. So I was at the store and came across these for $3.74 each and I just couldn't pass it up. I think it's kinda cute -- our single candy cane, in honor of Payton.
Anna has an amazing nursery leader. Each of the kids walked away with a little wrapped gift today. As soon as we walked into the house Anna placed her box under the kids' Christmas tree. Then 3 minutes later she decided to open it. And how cute is this! A teeny little nativity set! Sooo adorable. I want to go play house (er, stable) with Mary & Joseph. And to see her standing by the windowsill placing all the animals and people in their spot, just so heartwarming.
The kids all huddled by the heater vent, trying to trap the warm air under the blanket.
A snowy day indoors called for family puzzle time. Although we discovered that the boys' puzzle stamina is not quite as high as Scott & I. Plus, neither Scott nor I can just let a puzzle sit out for casual fixing. If a puzzle is out, it must be completed! Now!
And yes, that's my Halloween ghost still on the window. I never got around to taking him down. For Thanksgiving we named him Elijah and jokingly considered leaving an empty spot at the dinner table. Now, he has assumed the title of, "The Ghost of Christmas Past." I considered making him a Santa hat, but haven't gotten around to that one either. Maybe he'll still be up at Valentine's Day and I can give him a heart.
The schools have already announced closures for tomorrow. And looking at the forecast . . .
I'm guessing this won't be our only snow day this week. Bring on the hot chocolate!
