Have you read this book?
It is a favorite of Anna's. She loves for me to read it to her night after night. And there's a pretty good chance that she'll find Purplicious in her stocking this year.
I thought it would be fun to gather her little friends for a casual, fun get together around her birthday this year. And because she loves all things pink (clothes, her room, this book) it was easy to come up with a theme.
Pinkalicious Lunch & Cupcake Party
Here are the invites
I kept everything pretty simple because it was such an impromptu thing (we got home from Hawaii on Friday and the party was on Wednesday). . . using things we had around the house for decorating and activities, raiding my scrapbook stash for the invites. For a group of 3 and 4 year olds, simple is good.
Here is the lunch buffet, in all it's wonderful pinkness:
- raspberry lemonade
- peanut butter & jelly (or honey) sandwiches cut into flower shapes
- pink jell-o mousse
- mini graham cracker crusts with strawberry yogurt
- raspberries
- marshmallows dipped in pink chocolate
- grapes. Yes, I know they are not pink. But if you've read the book you'll understand my reasoning for including something green.
- ham
I threw the ham out at the last minute and oh my I'm glad I did. The kids loved it and kept asking for seconds, thirds, fourths. Who would have known?
For our activities the kids got to play in Anna's pink room for a while. Then we frosted pink cupcakes and they each got to decorate a little white box with pink stickers. Later I filled the boxes with an assortment of pink candies for them to take home.
In the end I read Pinkalicious to them, and that was it!
Pretty simple, very fun, very age appropriate, and very pink.
