is this close to finishing his Wolf in Cub Scouts
learned how to clean the kids' bathroom this summer. He does a full cleaning every Monday and then he's in charge of picking up the clutter and wiping things down with Lysol wipes everyday.
spent 2 weeks in July building the Death Star Legos.
is in love with the tv show Phineas and Ferb
is a swimmer. He was so excited to pass the swim test that allows him to swim in the big (deep) pool and jump off the diving board.
still wants to know what kind of jobs there are for kids to earn money. In theory, I *could* pay him for cleaning the bathroom, but I don't believe in paying my kids for jobs that they should just do because they are a part of the family and live in this house.
Payton . . .
is just so dang funny. Scott and I are constantly turning to each other and smiling/laughing, amazed at his comedic talents & timing.

often likes to pretend he's sleeping or dead when you enter a room. And he can keep the act up for pretty long.

will not drink from a cup, taste food, take a bite/lick of ice cream, etc. if someone else has eaten a portion first. Example: He loves smoothies. I made some last night and gave a cup to Payton and one to Anna, each with a straw. Anna took one sip of hers and didn't want it anymore. Payton devoured his and when we offered Anna's smoothie to him, he spent quite a bit of time inspecting it and then finally refused the offer. Even though he loves it! It's such a funny, interesting quirk to observe.
spent the whole summer in water wings and then at swimming lessons the last 2 weeks decided that he really can swim. And he does! Under the water, arm strokes, breaststrokes, floating/swimming on his back. Touching the bottom with his hand. We are just amazed, because he has been hesitant about swimming for a long long time. We are so so proud.
Anna . . .
is saying, "by the way . . . " all the time.
uses "you're not invited to my birthday party!" as a threat whenever she's mad at us.

goes through spurts where she's really really helpful around the house. She'll be diligent about making her bed & cleaning her room everday, and then she's so excited about she just has to show me. I've even found her sitting on my bed with the mound of clean laundry, folding clothes. Even separating them into piles for each family member. Also loves to help me clean the bathrooms.
keeps singing, "I can't take it any longer, I am getting stronger" from the Kidz Bop commercials.
went from screaming her head off at the pool in June to loving being in the water and somehow advanced to level 2.
