And we were entertained all day by Payton's quotes.
Referring to the above location Payton said: "It looks like an artist took a vacation here and painted all the rocks."
Scott spent some time teaching Conner how to use his compass. Checking off Boy Scout requirements.
Payton's best quote came while we ate lunch at Red Robin. We were talking about the military (seeing as it was Memorial Day) and specifically about the kids' Uncle Kevin, who serves in the army and returned from a deployment/mission a few weeks ago.
Scott said that he was serving "in a very dangerous place."
Payton, so innocently, chimes in, "What, like Chicago?"
And I lost it. I was in the middle of chewing a bite of my Banzai burger and nearly choked. And pretty soon there were tears.
Then as we were leaving he said, "I LOVE the restaurants where you can just leave your big ol' mess on the table."
Love that kid.
