In early July, for one family home evening, we went to Party City and shopped for a pinata. After much debate everyone eventually agreed on a puppy. We brought it home, filled it with candy . . . . and started a little game. On a blank piece of paper we each wrote down our guesses for the date which we thought we would be in the house. Those guesses went inside the puppy pinata with the plan that once we were really in the house we would break it open and see who was the winner.
Well, we couldn't keep our guesses a secret from one another.
- Payton guessed August 29
- Conner guessed August 27
- I guessed September 17
- Anna chose September 29
- And Scott picked November 5 (boo!)
Well, it looks like Anna is going to be the winner! The bank has approved the short-sale on the house!!!!!
We don't have a closing date yet -- we have more paper work to go through, an appraisal, loan write-ups to complete, and we may allow the sellers to rent it back from us for a week or 2 so they can move out (because we are nice) -- but it's looking like we will be able to move the first part of October!!!
Which is an answer to Payton's prayers. He was so hoping that we could be in our house by Halloween so that we would have a neighborhood to trick-or-treat in.
Really, it's an answer to all of our prayers.
I feel like it will be such a relief to finally get. in. the. house.
Even as we talk about it now, it still feels so surreal. What? We're actually going to live in a house? With a garage? And more than 2 drawers in the kitchen? and we don't have to listen to domestic disturbances below us anymore? Wow.
Even now, I still hesitate to get too excited about it because I'm not convinced it's a done deal. Although it pretty much is. I guess that once we have a move-in date, or once we have those keys in our hands, or once I am painting over Conner's now pink bedroom . . . . then it will feel real.
This is Anna's artistic rendering of our home
Once things are a little more official I'll share real pictures of the house. Can't wait!
