Okay, here is the Disneyland trip report. Lots of pictures. A few words.
One thing that is great about living in Vegas is the fact that Disneyland is a mere 260 miles away. We hopped in the van after Scott came home from work on a Tuesday night and arrived at our hotel around 10pm. AND we pulled in just as the fireworks were going off at Disneyland. They were welcoming us to town!
For this trip I brought my Canon point and shoot and my iphone camera. No lugging around the big camera! What I may have lost in photo quality I gained in family fun. No worries about getting the perfect shot = more opportunities for perfect moments.
WEDNESDAY - Disneyland!!! Let the fun begin!
I've never been to Disneyland in the fall before. It was really so fun to see the place all decked out for Halloween!
The Haunted Mansion was completely changed out inside for a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. Personally, I was a little disappointed by the switch. It was much more colorful inside than usual, which came off as more silly than creepy.
The beauty of going in the fall, we discovered, is fewer crowds. On Wednesday and Thursday we rarely had to wait in line and when we did it was for no more than 15 minutes. So when we entered the park on Wednesday morning, we were able to go on 10 rides in the first two hours!
You can see the excitement beaming from their faces as we ran from ride to ride to ride. And thankfully we're out of the stroller stage so we CAN run from ride to ride!
Partway through the day we met up with Kevin (Scott's brother) & Lisa and their kids Lily & Derek. What a fun coincidence that we would be vacationing at Disney at the same time! (Lucky them -- their kids get a 2 week Fall Break! They had actually made a pit stop in Vegas the previous week, on their way through from Colorado. I didn't get any pictures because we were so fresh in the house & busy, but Lisa did! Read her post HERE.) We had lunch together and spent a few hours going on rides together. Splash Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Star Tours, Space Mountain, Astro Orbiter, Tarzan's Treehouse (where Derek did not get lost), Alice in Wonderland, and Winnie the Pooh.
We made sure to grab a churro at every opportunity. // Behold, the Turkey Leg! We have been talking about the turkey leg ever since our last trip to Disney when we didn't get one. This time we weren't leaving without a leg and a leg.
