Each day this month I am trying to take a photo of something I am thankful for, and sharing it on instagram. I'm using these hashtags: #thirtydaysofthanksgiving #novemberthankful
So far . . . .
I voted early on November 1st. This was my first ever experience voting in person. The mail-in ballots in Oregon are pretty nice, but I have to say that this was a fun experience to do it "live." Plus, I got a cool sticker which I wore the whole rest of the day. I'm thankful to live in a country where we have a say in our leadership, rights, and privileges!
We got a knock at the door and found our neighbor standing there with this! "Welcome to the neighborhood!" My jaw dropped. It's a carrot cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and I know how good these cakes were because I picked one out for my birthday. I'm thankful to be in such a great neighborhood.
I had to giggle a little because I felt like my mom . . . . barefoot, vacuuming the pool, maneuvering the 25+ feet of hose, telling the kids not to mess with the water because it was stirring up the dirt. I spent so many years watching her do this. I'm thankful for her great example of hard work.
We sang this as the closing song in Relief Society on Sunday. I felt an overwhelmingly sense of gratitude for home and starting to feel it here.
We walk to school. For 3 reasons -- to avoid all the crazy traffic, to save money on gas (lots of time spent idling), and because we can. As I walked past the long line of cars at morning drop-off with their engines chugging, gas burning, and patience waning I was so thankful that we live close enough to walk.
At Anna's 7 year old well-child check-up. I'm so thankful for healthy kids!
note: she measured 51.25 inches at this appointment. That's in the 90-95th percentile. No matter how upset I get at her she just won't stop growing! ;)
The view from my balcony. Thankful for beautiful skies!
I made pumpkin muffins to bring to Lunch Bunch (a Relief Society get-together). I'm thankful for cute old ladies, their life stories, and their kindness.
