This weekend I got to attend The Power of Moms retreat. Let me tell you that it was just wonderful.
There was teaching by the lovely Miss April Perry & her crew, lots of small group discussions, a panel, good food, an "angry hat", sharing of dreams, and really great thoughtful questions. I have about 16 pages of notes. :)
As I sat during "class" on Saturday morning and April shared her "Mommy is a Person" lesson, I jotted down a few words to describe what I was feeling and getting out of this

I just loved being taught by thoughtful, careful, deliberate mothers.
What I loved most about this retreat was the way they helped me make a careful and accurate assessment of what I'm doing right now as a mother and what I would like to improve. And then, they gave so many tangible, real-life ideas that I could take home and put into use! I loved that. Inspiration is wonderful, but if you don't do anything with it then what's the use? At the end of each section they gave us a minute to write down one thing that we wanted to do / implement / change when we went home.
I have lots of stars and arrows in my notebook. But, I'm setting it aside for now. At the end of the day April actually told us to put away our notebooks when we got home and let them sit for about a week. For now, I'm spending time with my family feeling calmer, refreshed, and observing how we do things and how I react to things. Soon, I'll start putting into action some of the things I learned. And I plan to share it with you too.
For now, I encourage you to check out the Power of Moms website, read their articles, listen to a podcast, and check out some of their free programs. These ladies have put so much thought into everything they share, they are super organized, and they are dedicated to creating happy families and loving homes.
