We are currently on the final leg of a big road trip. For the first two weeks it was just me and the kids. But Scott has now joined us. That's why blogging has been spotty for the past little while. If you like, you can follow along with our adventures on instagram @shansummer
Here's an instagram re-cap of week one
Monday morning we hit the road for the 450 mile drive to my parents' house. The kids were excellent and the drive was smooth.
As soon as we got there we unloaded and re-loaded the van so they could whisk the kids away, along with Carlee and Preston for a few days of Cousin Camp. They spent a night on a houseboat, went tubing, slept under the stars, ate snow cones for breakfast, spent another 2 nights in a cabin, hiked 8 miles, had a talent show, and listened to Papa's nightly devotionals. They had a great time. (More photos and details at my mom's blog HERE.)
What was I doing for those 3 days and night? Enjoying a quiet, relaxing, and most comfortable stay at The Mill House. It was seriously so comfortable and the space is just perfect, I didn't want to leave!
Other than reading and working on a Blurb book, I also got to spend some time with my brother Denver, and sister-in-laws Bree and Heidi. I loved it! It was nice, especially, to spend some time with the girls and get to know my sister-in-laws better (we really haven't spent that much time together because of distance & such).
Visiting the street I grew up on // helping Heidi with decorations for her 30th birthday party (1200 gold sequins!) // reading Edenbrooke (love!) // sushi dinner with Denver & Bree
When the kids got home from Cousin Camp on Thursday we put them to work washing the van. Later, everyone (Sam, Heidi, Mason, Jessica, John, Libby & kids) came over for a pool party, Cousin Camp awards, and a very messy color fun game.
Friday was a frog hunting, rock collecting, and razor riding kind of day.
Saturday I got to do a little vintage shopping with my mom. LOVED it! I so wish I could transport her shops to Vegas. I came away with a tin that says "lucky" and a vintage scale that hangs on the wall. Later I finally got to see Flourish, and we went to Heidi's fabulous pink & gold birthday party.
On Sunday we attended Sam & Heidi's ward and squeezed in a little more time with the cousins. Aren't they all so cute! Cole, Conner, Preston, Audrey, Payton, Carlee, and Anna.
Then one more day of hanging out, milkshakes at Happy Burger (she drank the whole thing), a movie, and Razr riding.
We had a great visit with my family. We squeezed in lots of fun, snow cones, swimming, games, a merit badge for Coner (welding!), and quality time together.
Next stop . . . . . Oregon!
