This is year number eight for me,
2006 - simplify // 2007 - play
2008 - organize // 2009 - joy
2011 - nurture // 2012 - embrace
2013 - thrive
When it comes to choosing my one little word there are several different methods I employ.
Some years I have had a general idea of what I thought I needed in my life and went looking for my word . . . . searching the dictionary and thesaurus to get a word with just the right meaning.
Sometimes, after reading a really great quote a particular word stuck out to me like lightning. So I kept it as my own.
Other years, when I didn't feel a pull in any particular direction I just picked one that sounded good and went with it.
And some years the word has picked me.
My one little word for 2014 is . . . . STORY.
Initially, this may seem like a strange choice for me. I mean, I blog, I dabble in project life, I get the memory keeping stuff. But over the past few months, this word and the idea of recording our stories has jumped out to me time and time again. And my physical reaction has surprised me each time -- goosebumps, heart-swelling, eyes-stinging. Telling me that maybe there is more to this word that I need to explore and I need to make it a part of my life.
And so, my word has chosen me. Thank you, story.
I think there are many ways to tell our stories - blog, journal, photos - and I will explore those things this year as well diving into some of the stories that haven't been told yet. Stories that I want to hear. Stories that I want my children to know.
I have a few plans, but mostly I'm excited to see what unfolds over the year. I have a feeling some cool stuff will happen.
**I just enrolled in Ali Edwards One Little Word Workshop. This is my 3rd year! She always has such great prompts and content.
