I posted this photo on instagram a few weeks ago with the caption: "Through these doors we gain a window to heaven."
I truly felt that way when I walked out of the temple that day. It was a special day -- I felt touched by the Spirit, I felt like I had been taught, I felt the immense love of my Heavenly Father and Savior.
And then I was reminded of those feelings when I read this quote in our lesson that Sunday:
"The gratitude of our hearts should be filled to overflowing in love and obedience for [the Savior’s] great and tender mercy. For what he has done we should never fail him." -Joseph Fielding Smith
My gratitude overflows when I think of all that Jesus Christ has done for me. I know that he prepared a way for me and my family to return to live with him someday. And that path is through the temple.
Each day in our family prayers we pray that the kids will prepare now to be worthy to go to the temple someday. That is the goal. And beyond that the task is to live a life that is righteous and good, keeping the commandments, enduring to the end.
Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. 2 Nephi 31:20
