The above quotes & frames were part of the amazing decor for a Women's Conference that I attended yesterday. Someone with some amazing art skills hand-wrote all those quotes. Really.
The keynote speaker was Margaret Nadauld, former General Young Women President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1997-2002). She has a quote -- referenced above -- that is quite popular among women in the church.
"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity." -Margaret Nadauld, The Joy of Womanhood
What a powerful message and reminder that we truly need to be women of God and different from women of the world. She was quoted again in our last General Conference by D. Todd Christofferson when he spoke about the moral force of women.
She was such a sweet lady and it was wonderful to hear her words about womanhood, our value, our role, and how we can work to improve ourselves by making a plan and setting goals.
