These days I find that I am in the car a lot. I think that soccer practice has something to do with that. The weather is beautiful this time of year in the desert (just starting to get a tad warm). So as Anna and I drive to and fro during the 5 and 6 o'clock hours, the golden sunlight draping over our skin, we roll down the windows and listen to fun, happy music.
I recently received Mercy River's new album, Come Alive, and our drive to soccer practice seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a listen. The first track, Sing it Out, began and within 10 seconds Anna was tapping her foot and patting her leg. Oh, this is definitely going to work.
We listened to the album the whole way there and back (30 minutes round trip) and the next day and the next. It wasn't long before I caught Anna coloring at the kitchen table while singing, "Speak life, speak life! . . . through the deadest darkest night!" (That would be track 2).
We have since been listening to the album on repeat and our favorite songs are Sing it Out, Speak Life, and Walking on Sunshine. I love that we can enjoy these catchy, uplifting songs together.
It's such a breath of fresh air.
In addition to the catchy "dance" tracks that my kids gravitate to, the album radiates with themes of hope, faith, love, searching, understanding, and joy throughout the music.
