I remember hiking at Big Trees when I was in high school. My mom had taken all 5 of us kids camping in the state park. By herself. All in the name of making memories.
This park is absolutely beautiful and I was really looking forward to this part of our cabin stay. The North Grove trail is perfect - an easy 1.5 mile loop.
These trees are just so big you can hardly wrap your head around it. It is an amazing thing to look up, up, up, and still not see the very top of the tree! Though, I think the girls were more entertained by the squirrels and chipmunks that were all along the way. "Awww, how cute!" was heard about a hundred times.
After the hike we walked through the visitor's center which included a gift shop, of course. And they sweet-talked Papa into buying them each a stuffed animal. Anna and Carlee chose matching baby deer, named them Bambi and Bambette, and carried them everywhere for the rest of our stay at the cabin. Including this photo of their matching "china girl" dresses.
