The day after Thanksgiving we pulled out the Christmas trees (we have two fake trees) and the Christmas decorations. The kids decorated their tree - our super old 6 foot tree whose lights in the top section died this year. They have already been fixed multiple times in years past so we gave up and strung some blue lights on top.
I love seeing these photos of ALL THREE KIDS decorating the tree together, because last year one child had a meltdown and had to be sent to her room and missed out on decorating the tree.
The decorations have been up for almost 2 weeks but it didn't start to feel like Christmas for me until the last couple days.
Today I turned on some Christmas music, Scott assumed his position on the couch, and I got to work decorating our big Christmas tree. (I love that he always sits with me while on I work on this.) Once the tree was decorated -- BAM -- it was Christmas for me.
Also helping me feel like Christmas:
*I wore a sweater and socks(!) inside the house today and drank hot chocolate. Nevermind tomorrow's high temp is supposed to be 70.
*I just returned from a girls' weekend in Portland which was full of wonderful Christmas-y things! Twinkling lights, touring a 100 year old mansion decked out in Christmas decor, exchanging gifts, meeting Santa . . . . I can't wait to share!
*The Christmas cards - with the exception of a few stragglers - are now in the mail.
*Last night we watched Elf and ate popcorn all together
For Scott, he just has to watch The King's Singers and - BAM - it's Christmas for him.
This week we are also looking forward to Conner's Choir Christmas concert. He just informed us on Monday that he will be playing a piano solo. That is a pretty big deal! We also have our ward Christmas breakfast this weekend. I hear that pajamas and mustaches (?) are encouraged.
When they create an invitation like that they don't realize that some people (my husband) may show up in a red union suit.
