Today we wore our Easter best, packed for our spring break trip, and then gathered as a family to read scriptures about Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on this Palm Sunday. I'm excited to spend time each day discussing the events of the Savior's last week. This is such an important time and now, more than ever, I have a strong testimony and hope for the resurrection which is made possible and sure because of Him.
I loved our discussion tonight. Conner recounted the story. Scott read from the scriptures (Mark 11:1-11). We showed a video, there were questions, and a great discussion which I hope led to better understanding. We clipped a few stray palm fronds from the tree in our front yard and waved them while shouting "Hosanna!" which means "save us now."
Finally, we listened to the song "Hosanna" from The Lamb of God (which Conner performed just last month with Zion's Youth Symphony6 & Chorus). I can truly say that we felt and understood the overwhelming joy & stirring the people must have felt with Christ's arrival! It captured my heart in a way that I haven't grasped before.
The Promise of Ages whom prophets foretold,
For whom we have waited e'er long,
Hath come to redeem us from slavery's yoke
And deliver His people back home.
Come, Israel, come and see He who shall reign,
In whom we will ever rejoice,
We hear the sound of the glorious refrain
And it echoeth back in our voice:
Hosanna! Hosanna! Thy Savior hath come, O Israel,
And blessed He'll ever be called!
Hosanna! Hosanna! Sing praises to God,
For our Hope, our Deliv'rer, our All!
Oh, why should we wander as strangers from Thee
And turn from Thy bounteous hand?
Restore and defend us, oh, set us free,
That beside Thee we ever may stand!
Hosanna! Hosanna! Thy Savior hath come, O Israel,
And blessed He'll ever be called!
Hosanna! Hosanna! Sing praises to God,
For our Hope, our Deliv'rer, our All!
He looks, and ten thousands of angels rejoice,
And myriads wait for His word;
He speaks, and eternity, filled with His voice,
Re-echoes the praise of her Lord:
Hosanna! Hosanna! Thy Savior hath come, O Israel,
And blessed He'll ever be called!
Hosanna! Hosanna! Sing praises to God,
For our Hope, our Deliv'rer, our All!
Hosanna! Hosanna! Thy Savior hath come,
Our Hope, our Salvation, our All!
Many thanks to The Small Seed for their Easter Week guide! Simple and perfect. I have assigned a day to each child to present this week and they will be studying & preparing in the car tomorrow.
And now for the rest of the Easter pics:
